A Word About Shipping & New Product Updates

I wanted to say a few words about shipping. Unlike other on-line merchants, some of the material that I sell can be up to 12’ in length which makes calculating accurate shipping costs difficult. If everything that I sold was under 48” in length calculating shipping would be a breeze. However, material on my site can range from 10 inches long to 12 feet long and everywhere in between which makes it hard for my shipping software to get an accurate shipping cost. It’s generally not sophisticated enough to determine if multiple different size and different weight items can fit into one box so it can charge shipping almost like everything is being shipped separately which is almost never the case.

 So here is what I can tell you, the rates that I have with FedEx are the absolute best that are available with any shipper. I shipped 34,000 pounds with FedEx last year and I routinely take them to task to get the best discounts that I can get. We’ve been using them for over 20 years and overall they do a great job. As I mentioned above when it comes to cost, I charge what they charge and anything above that I refund back to you the customer. If my software charges you $60 at checkout for shipping and the actual shipping cost is only $30, I refund back to you the extra $30. Like all things with my business, I treat you like I’d want to be treated. 

 So here’s some statistics to give you a general idea on what you can expect. Out of the last 50 packages I sent, the average cost was $38.85 and average weight of the package was 46 lbs. The lightest package I sent was 6 lbs and the heaviest was 115 lbs. Out of the 50 packages, 16 of them were over 50lbs and 34 of them were under 50 lbs. If I can keep your package under 48’ in length (cutting the material to 47” or less) it will be $12 to $20 less than the same package over 48” in length. Packages 49” to 96” in length have added charges added to them which makes them more expensive.

 The bottom line is this: I manually pack and calculate the shipping for each package that is sent and I will ALWAYS configure the package to save you the most money that I can. Shipping adds no value to the sale, I’m not in the shipping business and your satisfaction is important to me. If you ever want to know the cost of shipping something to you give me a call or send me an email with your address and the items you want and I’ll be happy to get you a quote.
